Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is it weatherproof?

Yes, mostly. The system is made from hand-finished steel, oiled and patinated to develop a rich, living surface over time. It will naturally evolve with exposure to the elements. If you prefer a more weather-resistant finish, powder-coated versions will be available soon.

Can I mount it to different surfaces?

Absolutely. The Modular Wall Thing can be mounted to wood fences, stucco, brick, concrete, and drywall. Installation may require different anchors or hardware depending on the surface. If you’re unsure about mounting, reach out for guidance.

How much weight does it hold?

Each mounting system is designed to hold a surprising amount of weight, but it depends on how it’s installed. When properly mounted to studs or a solid surface, it can easily support heavy cast-iron pans, spice jars, utensils, and even small potted plants.

Can I customize the setup?

Yes. The whole system is modular, meaning you can mix and match components to fit your space. Need extra spice racks? More utensil hooks? A larger book holder? Just let me know, and we’ll make it work.

How do I care for the steel finish?

The hand-applied patina will age naturally over time, developing a unique character. If you want to maintain its original look, a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or paste wax every few months will help protect the surface. Powder-coated options (coming soon) require little to no maintenance.

What's the lead time on orders?

Most pieces ship within 2-3 weeks, but custom orders may take longer depending on workload. If you need something by a certain date, reach out, and I’ll do my best to accommodate.

Is local pickup available in San Diego?

Yes! If you're in San Diego, you can pick up directly to save on shipping. Just select the local pickup option at checkout, and we’ll coordinate.

Can I request a custom piece?

Absolutely. I love custom projects—whether it’s a unique variation of this system or something entirely different. If you have an idea, let’s talk.
